Genoa, Nev. — The introduction of the resolution adopting new regulations to the fire code is scheduled to go before the East Fork Fire Protection District Board of Trustees 1 p.m. today at their regular meeting, held at 1694 County Road in Minden


A session on flood preparation and safety is 3-5:30 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. People can look up their property and talk to residents about flood preparation.


School Board candidates Robbe Lehmann and Roberta Butterfield report having contacted their opponents with their congratulations. Commissioners are scheduled to canvass the vote 4 p.m. Friday.


This morning, Clerk-Treasurer Amy Burgans said her office staff scanned around 1,500 ballots on Monday and that she plans to release results that will be very close to the final count around 5 p.m. today. Another 2,000 votes could bring Douglas to a turnout of just over 72 percent.


East Fork firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1200 block of Dora Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos around 3 a.m. today. It turned out to be noisy plumbing, according to the district without a flame in sight.


Highway 50 was blocked for a time last night after a Nevada Department of Transportation front loader had to help clear heavy concrete structures near Cave Rock after a 3:45 p.m. collision. No one was hurt, but it sounded like a mess.


There’s a little bit of cloud cover this morning that kept the temperatures from hitting the floor, but the forecast calls for that to clear, with a high temperature climbing all the way to 39 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the west at 5 mph.
