Genoa, Nev. — Workers digging away in front of Gardnerville Station are installing outlet piping for a detention basin located below. Gardnerville Town Board members are scheduled to hear an update on the project at their meeting 4:30 p.m. today in the town offices.


Main Street Gardnerville is celebrating its 15th anniversary today at the Gardnerville Town Board and will be conducting the Discover Downtown and Mingle Event 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the town offices.


Rotarians are offering to donate $5,000 to construct a shade structure at Mountain View Pond in Gardnerville along the Martin Slough Trail, according to the Gardnerville agenda. Also on the town’s agenda is discussion of the update of the 2003 Trails Master Plan, which is due at Minden and Genoa on Wednesday.


A committee reviewing requests for proposals for managing Minden-Tahoe Airport has entered negotiations with a single vendor. The name of that vendor has not been revealed. Speakers at the Airport Advisory Committee said they were in favor of letting the county manage the airport on Monday night.


The Esmeralda Farmers Market in Minden is 4-8 p.m. today, so expect Esmeralda Avenue to close at some point this afternoon. The farmers markets are just getting rolling. I went to the Just a Drop In Farmers Market in Heritage Park last week and watched a lady buy 40 pounds of peaches.


It looked pretty dark to the east on Monday evening, but it appears most of the precipitation fell on the other side of the Pine Nuts. A gauge off Upper Colony Road recorded .42 inches in Smith Valley. A tenth of an inch fell near Slate in TRE.


A 5-15 mph north wind is blowing this D-Day anniversary morning, which is supposed to shift to the south this afternoon. The forecast calls for a 30-percent chance of showers or thunderstorms after 2 p.m. today with the high temperature climbing to 80 degrees.
