Genoa, Nev. — I’ll follow up on a reported high-speed chase that led from Douglas into Carson City around 11:30 p.m. Monday night. Two were arrested in Carson after what my tipster said was a foot pursuit.

The open house for the sawmill is 4-7 p.m. today at the red barn located just east of Highway 395 on South Sunridge. To be clear, that’s not where the sawmill is located. It’s over behind the Carson Valley Plaza off Topsy.

A 22-year process to come up with a plan to clean up the Leviathan Mine Superfund site may see completion in the next few months. Officials involved in the effort updated people in a virtual meeting on Monday night.

That’s not say it’s all been planning, around 400 million gallons of water from the site have been treated over the last few decades. Leviathan is upstream from the Carson River, and while no person drinks that water — or should — getting it cleaned up has been a long-term project.

A high-pressure zone will clamp the heat down over Western Nevada, with temperatures forecast to hit 100 degrees on Saturday and staying there for the Labor Day weekend.

Today expect a high of 95 degrees with the wind out of the west 5-10 mph gusting to 20 mph.
