Johnneta Rose McGowan passed away on December 30, 2014 at Renown Hospital in Reno. A quiet woman, she was the backbone for her family. her Mona Lisa smile that never really told us what she was thinking, let us know she was

there for us. Born Johnneta Rose Craig on June 26, 1945 at the Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi, to John Junior and Viola Louise Craig, she grew up in new Mexico, then Southern California where she graduated from Edgewood High School in

West Covina , Ca. July 1, 1972, she married Yerington, Curtis B. McGowan. They resided in Gooding, ID for a few years, before relocating to Fallon, NV. where she lived until the time of her death. Having no children of her own, she happily embraced Curt’s three children with a love as great as any birth mother. Starting as a legal secretary for the law firm of Diehl, Recanzone, & Evans in Fallon, Johnnie (as she was known) was hired by Churchill County to become the Administrative Assistant to the late Judge Huff. She was well respected by those that dealt with the courts in Churchill County, and was missed by all when she retired in 2011. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family on hunting and fishing trips. she enjoyed reading, watching TV, acquiring owl collectables and a little “therapy” at the local casinos with her sister. She loved her home in Fallon and was truly a country girl at heart. Johnnie is survived by her husband Curt McGowan; sons, Curtis McGowan, Jr.; Terrance (Kate) McGowan all of Fallon; daughter, Shelly McGowan of San Diego, Ca.; grandchildren, Trey and Conner McGowan of Fallon; Alex McGowan of San Diego, Ca.; sister, Darlene Dolan of Fallon; brother, John Craig (Jeanette) of Chino, Hills, Ca. She will be missed by all of her friends and family. she was a great friend, a shoulder in need and a loving wife, mother, sister , aunt...She was the quiet star of our family. Services to celebrate Johnnie’s life will be held at The Gardens Chapel in Fallon on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 A M. There will be a potluck gathering following services at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Parrish Hall 507 Churchill Street Fallon, NV. The family requests that in lieu of flowers those who wish, make a donation to the Fallon Youth Club 545 E. Richards ST. Fallon, NV. 89406.
