Hail could be seen on Jobs Sister after a storm traveled along the Carson Range on Saturday afternoon. Places in the Carson Valley along the foothills received up to a tenth of an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service radar. Up top nearly an inch fell in places.
Trained weather spotters reported pea-sized hail in Markleeville and South Lake Tahoe from a thunderstorm that developed along the top of the Sierra and moved north.
A short-term forecast predicted periods of heavy rainfall over the west slope of the Sierra, affecting highways 88, 4 and 50 in California.
A small stream flood advisory was issued for southwestern Washoe County around Evans and Hunter creeks. The flood advisory expired at 6 p.m.
Sunday is expected to hold more changes in the weather for Western Nevada as a low pressure zone pushes onto the California coast. Afternoon highs will drop 10 degrees, but the chance of thunderstorms will increase. Sunday's high temperature is expected to hit 78 degrees, with a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.
By Monday, the weather service is forecasting a Tonopah low will arrive. Snow levels are expected to drop to 8,000 feet. The high temperature for Minden is expected to drop to 64 degrees, and then to 56 degrees on Tuesday. High temperatures aren't expected to climb back into the 70s until Saturday.
