Knights bingo March 12 in memory of Biaggini

Staff Reports

The Knights of Columbus are dedicating bingo on March 12 in memory of Douglas County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Biaggini and we expect him there, in spirit. This one is for his family. The proceeds will help cover medical and other expenses incurred during his long battle with cancer. It will be held at the St. Gall Church Pastoral Center in Gardnerville. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with food and drinks in the snack bar. Game packs, available for a $21 donation, include warm-up and regular games plus blackouts and an additional hot ball jackpot.

On March 9, 2007, the Knights of Columbus had the largest turnout ever, with 205 attending the bingo fundraiser for Capt. Biaggini. The net proceeds from this event went to help pay for his non-medical expenses related to his California trips for cancer treatment. Mike was there that night as he had been a year earlier on March 8, 2006, helping raise money for the Jon-Jon canine fund. That bingo night was in memory of police dog Jon-Jon. Mike continued to give his support at several bingo nights dedicated to various needs of our community.
