Food drive thank-yous

EDITOR:

Once again the Carson Valley has shown its phenomenal generosity. This year's KTVN Channel 2 News "Share Your Christmas" Food Drive at the Carson Valley Inn brought in nearly 85,000 pounds of food (2009 - 76,156 pounds) and $34,876 in monetary donations. In a year that we had doubts about topping the previous year, we received the most ever from you the people of our fantastic community. When asked by the Channel 2 News anchors "can you explain why this community is so generous?" The immediate answer was, "because we are the Carson Valley."

We would especially like to thank the following for their sharing of resources, time and talents:

KTVN Channel 2 News and their onsite crew in front of and behind the cameras, the Carson Valley Inn, Bill Henderson (CVI), the Carson Valley Inn Engineering and Banquet Departments (especially Gary Nix), The Record-Courier, The Four Preps, Care Flight, Santa's helper Kirk Wilson, the Food Closet Crafters, Carson Valley United Methodist Church, Carson Valley United Methodist Women, Carson Valley Middle School Band, "POBOB" Motorcycle Club, Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Steel Drum Band, Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley, Douglas High School Jazz Band, Carson Valley Sertoma Club, Douglas Disposal, Inc., Raleys (47,000 pounds plus), Scolari's (very special support), State of Nevada Department of Corrections "Man Tracker Team," East Fork Fire & Paramedic District, East Fork Fire & Paramedic Cadets, Douglas County Sheriff's Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, "Upward Bound" from UNR, Douglas High School National Honor Society, numerous other volunteers and Douglas High School Junior ROTC.

These are the people, businesses and organizations that physically made the Food Drive happen, but without the continued support of the people of the Carson Valley the Carson Valley Community Food Closet would not exist.

Our sincere and very heartfelt thanks to all.
