Major phone outage affecting Douglas County, Lyon County, parts of Eastern Calif.

KOLO in Reno is reporting that a major phone outage has hit Douglas County, Lyon County and parts of California.

The TV station said a spokesman with Lyon County Office of Emergency Services said it appears that the problem involves customers on the Frontier Communications telecom system. KOLO 8 News Now has heard unconfirmed reports that a problem has been identified and it could could take up to four hours to repair.

Until then, all 911 calls from the affected areas are being re-routed through Carson City's Sheriff Department which is relaying calls via radio. Stay with KOLO News Now as this story develops.
