Lyon County 911 down: Douglas 911 operating normally

The Lyon County 911 Center has lost the ability to receive or make telephone calls. Lyon County has notified the telephone company and all 911 calls are being routed through Carson City.

Lyon County Manager/Emergency Management Director Jeffery A. Page, is advising Lyon County residents that cannot get through 911 to go to their nearest Sheriff's Substation to report an emergency.

Lyon County is working with the telephone company to determine the source of the problem and make repairs as soon as possible.

Douglas County 911 is operating normally. East Fork Deputy Chief Dave Fogerson asked that residents not test the system by dialing 911. The number is for emergencies only.

There are also reports that Clear Wire has lost several towers in Western Nevada. There is no word if the two outages are connected
