Gardnerville resident Madeline Cecilia Raimondo, 97, died March 23, 2010.
She was born in Chicago to John Schoemer and Mary Reiter Schoemer on Nov. 6, 1912. She was raised in Fresno, Calif., and Kerman, Calif., where her mother Mary, who was widowed, ran the Kerman Inn.
Mrs. Raimondo lived in Walnut Creek, Calif., for 45 years with her husband Johnny.
They were married for 61 years. For the last nine years of her life, she lived in Carson City, then Minden and Gardnerville for the last six years.
She was preceded in death by husband John Leonard Raimondo in November 2000; son John Gary Raimondo, who died at age 35 in 1979; and four brothers, all of whom lived in Fresno.
She is survived by daughter Susan (Walter) Lewis of Minden; daughter-in-law and son-in-law Dianne (Marc) Felker of Clayton, Calif.; grandchildren Dana (Kevin) Fitzgerald Clayton, Calif., Tara Thomas of Loma Rica, Calif., David (Krystal) Lewis of Carson City and Crystal Lewis of Durant, Okla.; and great-grandchildren Tyler Fitzgerald, Sean Fitzgerald, Jake Trujillo, Jacqueline Trujillo, Bridget Lewis, Kayla Lewis, and another Lewis grandchild on the way.
Mrs. Raimondo was interred at Oakmont Memorial Park, with her husband in Lafayette, Calif. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
