Lake schools get snow day

All of Douglas County's Lake Tahoe schools are closed today due to snow. Schools in Carson Valley will remain open today.

It's snowing in Genoa, and probably lots of other places, too. Roughly 3 inches of snow fell overnight.

Chains or snow tires are being required over Kingsbury and Highway 50 from Carson City most of the way to Placerville, and on 50 east of Carson City to Dayton. Chains or snow tires are being required on Highway 208 from Holbrook Junction over Jackwright Pass. Highway 88 is closed between Sorensen's in Hope Valley to Kirkwood.

High winds accompanied the arrival of the snow storm with a 61 mph gust at Sheridan Acres in Carson Valley.

Kirkwood reported 20-30 inches of new snow overnight.
