The R-C Morning Report

Douglas County School Board members voted 6-1 to accept Carol Lark's resignation on Wednesday night, with board president Cindy Trigg dissenting. When Lark's resignation takes effect on Nov. 30, the three assistant superintendents will be running the district until the board selects an interim.

The Douglas County commission meeting at Stateline times out at roughly 85 minutes today. The longest item is a review of the county's financial policies for its enterprise funds and setting connection charges and rate structures for the water rate consolidation study. Commissioners meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Tahoe Transportation Center.

We may have rain and snow on Friday, but we'll definitely have wind. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for the entire day, starting early in the foothills. The big winds will be Friday afternoon, just ahead of the cold front. Expect winds of 25-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. Gusts over the Sierra ridges could hit 125 mph.

Today will be nice though, with a high of 55 degrees under sunny skies.
