The R-C Morning Report

I suspect this afternoon Douglas County School Board trustees will hear that Superintendent Carol Lark wants to resign. Whether she is actually resigning is another matter entirely. She has a contract with the district through June 2011. The school board meets at 3:30 p.m. today at the Douglas High School Media Center.

Veterans are invited to Gardnerville Elementary School at 0900 today for the school's annual Veterans Day assembly. Scarselli is holding their assembly at 1000. The Marines will be gathering for cake to celebrate their service's birthday today. Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl is hosting. Wednesday is Veterans Day, which is a holiday. Schools, banks and government offices at all levels will be closed.

The Valley was covered in a blue haze on Monday. Hopefully the winds associated with this storm will help clean us out. Open burning started on Friday, and I know there have been a couple of fire calls related to legal burns.

There won't be much foreshadowing of the rest of the week's weather today, according to the National Weather Service. The high is supposed to hit 58 under partly sunny skies. The breeze will come up this afternoon to 10 mph. We won't see much in the way of precipitation until late Wednesday, assuming the storm doesn't fizzle.
