House building at library

Build gingerbread houses using graham crackers and other sweets, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 21, at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden.

Dennis Little shows children and parents how to create edible crafts to take home. Program is limited to 30 children per session. Register by Nov. 18 to attend either program.

Bring a donation for the program from a list of supplies. Supplies must be delivered to the library by 7 p.m. Nov. 18.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library. The library is located at 1625 Library Lane in Minden. Information at 782-9841 or douglas.lib.nv.us


Gingerbread house contest

Carson Valley Arts Council's fifth annual gingerbread house decorating contest opens during the museum's Gallery of Trees and Cookie Walk on Dec. 5.

The contest is free to enter and is open to Carson Valley residents and community groups.

Application forms available in the Copeland Cultural Arts Center in Minden, Douglas County Parks & Recreation office, Douglas County Public Library and the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville. Applications also at www.cvartscouncil.com and www.historicnevada.org
