Park Cattle: The R-C Morning Report

The Park Cattle Co. proposal looks like it will have an uphill run. County Planner Harmon Zuckerman told members of the Gardnerville Town Board that he was recommending that the Planning Commission deny the project. The project goes to the Minden Town Board 6 p.m. tonight at the Douglas County Administrative Building, 1616 Eighth St.

We should get a peek at county commission candidates' financial hands today as their disclosure statements arrive at the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer's Office. The deadline was Tuesday, but that means they have to be postmarked by that day if they were mailed. We'll get the majority for Friday's issue and the rest should be in time for Sunday.

Congratulations are due Gardnerville employee Jeff Summers who received a plaque on Tuesday night who was recognized for his 25 years of service to the town. The entire town staff will be at the Douglas County commission meeting on Thursday afternoon to show their support for Jeff.

You'd never know it look outside right now, but there's a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms starting at about 11 a.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. We had a little bit of rain on Tuesday morning, and the clouds looked threatening, but not much materialized. The chance of thunderstorms continues through tonight and into Thursday. The humidity's up a bit, so the chance of ignition was just 87 percent.
