County wins distinguished budget award

The Government Finance Officers Association presented a distinguished budget presentation award to Douglas County officials.

A certificate of recognition for budget presentation was presented to County Manager T. Michael Brown and Comptroller/Administrative Services Director Claudette Springmeyer.

"The award represents a significant achievement by the entity," said spokesman Stephen J. Gauthier. "It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation."

Budget documents must be rated proficient as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.

For fiscal period 2007, 1,166 entities received the award.

The nonprofit professional finance officers association serves more than 17,600 government finance professionals throughout the United States and Canada. The program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
