County receives award for budget

Douglas County received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2005-06 budget document from the Government Finance Officers Association.

County Manager Dan Holler credited the work Comptroller Claudette Springmeyer and Assistant Administrative Services Director Michael Brown at a meeting of the Douglas County commissioners.

"This is the highest award given to public bodies in budgeting," Holler said. "Mike (Brown) spends a lot of evenings working on the budget and the effort has been recognized for several years."

Brown credited all county departments, when he said they all have a hand in the process.

"If people want to learn more about the county, the budget is a great resource," he said.

Budget documents are available for review at the Douglas County Public Library, County Manager's Office and the Comptroller's Office.

For any questions, contact Springmeyer at 782-9097 or Brown at 782-9098.
