Raining hard in Gardnerville

Heavy rain is falling in Gardnerville as the commute begins. According to the National Weather Service, places in Western Nevada have received up to half an inch of rain, along with hail.

Weather spotters reported marble sized hail deep enough to cover the road three miles east of Glenbrook at 2:16 p.m.

Genoans reported rain and hail at 4:30 p.m.

Bridgeport reported marble sized hail with heavy rain during a thunderstorm, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service, strong thunderstorms have developed around the Tahoe Basin and extended into the Carson and Reno areas.

The storms are moving north at about 10 mph.

Rain is falling at rates of up to 1 inch an hour. Motorists should expect water to pond on the highways. Visibility may be less than a mile.
