Beans, Blues and Brews to benefit arts council

Beer tasting, wine, cheese, sausage and music is featured at the second annual Beans, Blues and Brews fundraiser, 4-7 p.m. Saturday, at the Wild Rose Inn in Genoa. The event benefits the Carson Valley Arts Council.

Buckbean Brewery and Jeff Toland provide the microbrews and featured entertainers are Monique Haviland and the Kingtones and Beans Sousa.

Haviland plays a mix of pop, jazz, and blues. She was a teenaged pop star in Croatia, Bosnia, Northern Italy, Austria, Yugoslavia and Slovenia. After moving to the United States, Haviland performed in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver, Portland and Hawaii.

She has recently released her CD "Illumination" and a greatest hits compilation of her European hits.

Guitarist Duane "Beans" Sousa is best known for his recording productions and album appearances. In 1999 he produced and co-wrote songs for Lacy J Dalton's "Wild Horse Crossing" as well as his own CD, "Into The Blue."
