Bingo Saturday

Carson Valley Sertoma Community Bingo is the first Saturday of the month at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Doors open at 11 a.m., early bird at 12:30 p.m., regular session at 1 p.m. Progressive blackout on July 5 will be $700 with 58 numbers or less. Coffee and popcorn provided. Snack bar open. Chautauquans perform Saturday

Senior-Student Day features Young Chautauquans Katie Antti and Serena Herup who perform as Betsy Ross at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Seniors, students and a required accompanying adult admitted free to the museum and presentation every first Saturday of the month. Tours of the museum by costumed guides at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Information, 782-2555.


Beans, Brews and Blues on menu at arts benefit

Beans, Brews and Blues, a benefit for the Carson Valley Arts Council is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Wild Rose Inn, 2332 Main St., in Genoa. Live entertainment by guitarist Beans Sousa and singer and keyboard player Monique Haviland. Donation, $20. Information, 782-5697 or (775)315-7777.


Free museum lecture Thursday

Boxing historian Guy Clifton will speak about Jack Dempsey in Nevada 7 p.m. July 10 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

The free lecture series is sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society the second Thursday of the month. The museum and the Main Street Book Store will be open before and following the one-hour lecture. Information, 782-2555.


Booths needed for Elks Carnival

Vendor booths are needed for the Minden-Douglas Elks 2008 Summerfest Carnival, July 30 through Aug. 3 at Lampe Park. Booths are $60 to $100, depending on size. Information, Dave Trueblood, 782-3416.
