Updates on former Douglas High standouts

For the week of Feb. 22, 2009

Pat Carlson, jr., G, CSU Bakersfield: Did not play in losses to Seattle University and Utah State or in a win over Utah Valley.


Brendan Carlson, soph., G, Lassen College: Lassen is 17-13 overall on the year and 5-5 in conference play.


Chris Carlson, soph., F, Lassen College: Carlson is the second-leading scorer in the Golden Valley Conference at 19.2 points per game. He's hit 45 3-pointers on the year and had 30 points in one game this season.

Nick Cohee, fr., Utah: Cohee took 33rd in the slalom on the first day of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association regional meet and took 16th in the giant slalom on the second day.

Shawn Estes, P, Los Angeles Dodgers (Minor League): The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that Estes is saying his spring will end either with him making a Major League roster or retiring.


Bryan Miller, OF, Washington Nationals (Single-A Hagerstown): The Nationals first spring training game is today against Houston. Miller is signed with the Nationals through the end of spring training.


Jordan Hadlock, fr., C, Cal Poly: The Mustangs swept a pair of games from No. 3 Rice over the weekend, beating the Owls 10-3 and 7-6 on Saturday. They lost the series opener Friday 10-7. The Mustangs have three other catchers on the roster, all of whom are upperclassmen and all of whom played over the weekend, so it is assumed this will be a redshirt year for Hadlock.


Chris Honer, jr., P, Point Loma: Honer threw two scoreless innings of relief work with two strikeouts in a 14-8 win over Concordia. The Sealions also swept a pair of games from Westmont last week.


Phil Mannelly, soph., IF, Feather River: Mannelly went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double in a 10-2 win over West Hills, went 1-for-3 in a 6-4 win over West Hills and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 9-5 win over West Hills. Feather River is now 11-2 on the year.


Cory Eilers, soph., DH, Feather River: Eilers scored a run in a 9-5 win over West Hills.


Roman Davis, soph., C, Feather River: Davis is batting .250 with a run scored and a stolen base in one start this year.


Niko Saladis, soph., RF, Feather River: Saladis went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in a 10-2 win over West Hills, went 3-for-5 with a run scored in a 6-4 win over West Hills and went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 9-5 win over West Hills.


Ryan Laing, soph., 1B, Pratt College (Kansas): Pratt is 1-6 to start the year with its lone win coming against Western Nebraska.


Chris Balcom-Miller, soph., P/IF, West Valley College: West Valley is 1-7 overall on the year. Balcom-Miller is batting .174 with a run scored and an RBI in six starts and is 1-0 on the mound with a 1.50 ERA, seven strikeouts and two walks.

Brittany Puzey, sr., OF, Nevada: Puzey has started all 14 games for the Wolf Pack and is batting .262 with four doubles, a triple, seven RBIs and five stolen bases.


Lauren Hoppe, fr., OF, College of Idaho: The Coyotes went 3-5 at the SoCal Smash, taking third place. Hoppe did not play in the tournament.

Nicole Mehrer, fr., Nevada: The Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track Championships are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Boise State.


Ryan Bertucci, soph., Chico State: Season opens Saturday with the Wildcat Relays.


Skylar Young, fr., Chico State: Season opens Saturday with the Wildcat Relays.
