Bingo Knights

The Knights of Columbus bingo today benefits Peggy Pedrojetti with medical bills. Doors open at 6 p.m., play starts at 7 p.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Blackout bonus is $1,199. Food and drinks available for purchase. Knights provide popcorn, coffee and snacks.

T'ai Chi Day

The Carson Valley T'ai Chi Club and Douglas County Parks & Recreation sponsor the free World T'ai Chi Day event, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, in Minden Park. Event includes group warm-up, T'ai Chi routines and demonstrations. Information, Earl Mussett, 782-6603.


Solar cooking workshop

Learn about baking bread in a solar oven and about square foot gardening, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, at Sacred Spiral Studio, 1558 First St., Minden. Children welcome.

Elks breakfast

The Elks of the Minden-Douglas Lodge No. 2670 pancake breakfast is 8:30-11 a.m. Sunday. Choice of pancakes, eggs/omelets, sausage, juice and coffee, $5.50 for adults and $3 for children. The lodge is at 1276 Pit Road, Gardnerville Ranchos. Information, 265-4523.


Vaccination clinic

Douglas Animal Welfare Group and Douglas County Animal Shelter sponsor a low-cost vaccination and microchip clinic, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, at the animal shelter, 921 Pinenut Road, Gardnerville. May Day dance

The May Day Dance for the Cure is 7:30-11:30 p.m. May 1 at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Dance to music from '60s, '70s, '80s and beyond. Cost $5 per person, $7 per couple, $10 per family. Tickets at Scolari's in Gardnerville or at the door. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Information, Craig, 782-5550.


Library seeks volunteers

The Douglas County Public Library is looking for volunteers to work at the children's service desk during the summer. Detail-oriented adults with experience working with children are desired. Help is needed to sign up children for the summer reading program, give instructions, and issue prizes to readers.
