A memorial service will be held in Yuba City, Calif., for 21-year Gardnerville resident Opal M. Peckham, 94, who died Sept. 23, 2008.

Born April 5, 1914, in Monroeville, Ind., to Jesse H. and Josie Walters Bellis, she graduated from high school prior to moving to San Francisco, where she married Guy T. Peckham.

She was a homemaker, who enjoyed reading and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 13, 1974, in Yuba City, Calif.

Mrs. Peckham is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Neil Peddicord; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two nieces.

Cremation is at FitzHenry's Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Longtime Gardnerville resident Lori Ann White, 45, died Sept. 27, 2008, at a Reno hospital following a lingering illness.

Born Nov. 6, 1962, in Livermore, Calif., she and her family moved to Gardnerville 36 years ago.

She attended Douglas High School and graduated from veterinary technical school in Sacramento.

She worked as a licensed veterinary technician for Carson Tahoe Veterinary Clinic for 14 years. She devoted her life to animals and was active in the Nevada Endurance Association for horses.

She is survived by her mother, Linda Paddock and stepfather Robert W. Paddock of Gardnerville; brothers Jeffrey (Beth) Bates of Gardnerville and Glen (Brenda) Bates III of Topaz; sisters Lynn Herning of Carson City and Carrien (Keith) Isham of Gardnerville and several nieces and nephews.

No services are scheduled at Ms. White's request.

Arrangements are entrusted to Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden.
