A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville for Brenda G. Mavrakis-Nielsen, 52, who died at her home in Wellington Sept. 19, 2006.

Mrs. Mavrakis-Nielsen, a five-year resident of Wellington, was born July 30, 1954, in San Marcus, Texas, to James R. and Shirley F. Burrus. She was a high school graduate, previously from Hayward, Calif., and married to Steve Nielsen. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Burrus. She is survived by her husband Steve Nielsen of Wellington; son Nick Mavrakis, 28, of Fremont, Calif.; daughter Jamie Nielsen, 24, of Dayton; father Jim Burrus, sisters Deborah Johnson, Linda Meserve, Mary Heim; brother Jim Burrus II; three grandchildren; five nieces; five nephews; one aunt and one uncle.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. There will be a viewing from noon to 2 p.m. Monday prior to services. Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
