Second Saturday events

Events for the Carson Valley Art Galleries' Second Saturday event on May 10 include:

n Helen Martin demonstrates painting techniques for greeting cards to trompe l'oeil art, 1-3 p.m. at East Fork Gallery, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville, 782-7629. Light refreshments served.

n Meet artists of Elements exhibit at wine and hors d'oeuvres reception, 3-5 p.m. at Artisans International Gallery, 1653 Lucerne St., Minden Village, 783-8881.

n Grand opening celebration with wine and cheese, 1-4 p.m. at the new location of Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio in the old Copeland Lumber building, 1572 Highway 395, Minden, 783-0633. Check out the future home of Carson Valley Arts Council Visual and Performing Arts Center.

n Sharon Randall from Copper Kiln Pottery throws vases on the wheel, 1-3 p.m. at Felix Pottery, 1459 Highway 395 in Gardnerville. Randall has been working with clay for 30 years and fires in gas, electric and raku kilns. She makes functional and art pieces in porcelain and stoneware.

n Lone Tree Gallery presents two new artists at a reception, 4-7 p.m. Jan Rollenhagen shares techniques about her gallery gourds and gold leaf application. Reiko Hervin presents a demonstration on floral art. Demonstrations from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
