Tonight special-needs kids will get the first turn at the carnival. Those interested should contact Active 20-30 Club member Brian Deaton at 220-8046. And no, wanting to ride in the carnival first is not a special need.

Getting around during the next few weekends will be a challenge what with Carson Valley Days closing Highway 395 on Saturday morning and a couple of bicycle races the following weekend. Where previously the weeks after Carson Valley Days were dead, Magiko has fired up some new events for the weeks leading up to July 4.

It will be sunny and cool today, but that won't last for long as temperatures will warm back up into the 90s for the first time since the record-breaking heat wave in mid-May. The National Weather Service is calling for the high today to hit 76. The high is predicted to hit 90 in time for Saturday's parade.
