Second Saturday events


November brings some special activities to the Carson Valley Art Gallery Association's Second Saturday events.

-- African dancers at Artisans International Gallery, 1653 Lucerne St., in Minden Village, 783-8881. A performance by Anouaze, a music and dance group from Ghana, Nigeria and the Ivory Coast at 3:30 p.m. A discussion on African cultures and displays of African products to be featured in the gallery.

-- Silk painting workshop with Louise Noel Howes, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio, 1368 Highway 395, #B, Gardnerville, 783-0633. Call to sign up to paint a scarf using various textural techniques. Cost is $80 for the class and $40 for materials.

-- Christmas ornament demonstration by Elfriede Short, 1-3 p.m. at East Fork Gallery, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville, 782-7629. Short's ornaments have been a holiday tradition for more than 20 years. Light refreshments served.
