The R-C Morning Report

Word has it that Douglas County's Planning and Economic Development Manager Mimi Moss has been named Douglas County's community development director, the first time a woman has held the post that I know of. Moss will replace Mitch Dion who resigned in March. She has worked for Douglas County since 1994 when she was hired as an assistant planner. She was promoted to senior planner in 1997. Moss was named planning and economic development manager on Nov. 20, 1999.

One of the dangers of writing advances in court cases is the possibility that events will overtake you. But I believe I've set a record this week. Both the district court cases I mentioned in the morning reports failed to actually materialize in court. Bradley Coushman is in custody in California and Elliot Lieberman is in rehab. That's a pretty odd run of luck.

I've had a whole week like that. For instance I reported that Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District trustees were meeting last week, when in fact they meet tonight. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. and the agenda features the strategic plan for the district. Sorry. I'm told next month's meeting is on the second Wednesday of the month as well.

It will be sunny and warm for the next couple of days, peaking Thursday with a high of 94, according to the National Weather Service. Today's high is supposed to hit 92 degrees. The Washoe zephyr will pick up at about 11 a.m. with gusts of up to 18 mph. The temperatures will rise and fall by about 5 degrees for the next couple of days.
