Negotiations appear to have been successful in the drug case of Kevin and Maude Cox, who are facing trafficking charges. The couple's attorneys have been working with prosecutors on a plea deal. The couple are due in Douglas County District Court today for a change of plea. The Coxes were arrested July 11, 2008, at their Jacks Valley home after allegedly selling more than 5 grams of methamphetamine to an informant.

A Mammoth Lakes man who allegedly robbed the Minden AM/PM at chisel point while wearing a bag on his head is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court for arraignment this morning. Christopher Matthew Hamilton, 43, was arrested after deputies spotted a car matching the description of the getaway vehicle. The robber occurred in June 2008.

Members of the Indian Hills General Improvement District board will meet 6 p.m. today to elect officers and work out what they want to do over the course of the year. The board has some serious issues to deal with, including meeting federal arsenic standards. The board meets in its offices at James Lee Park.

January will feel more like spring over the next week at least, with high temperatures in the upper 50s and not a cloud in sight, according to the National Weather Service. The nights will bring a reminder of the time of year, with lows in the 20s. Today expect a high of 58. It will cool off a couple of degrees and then bounce right back up there.
