The 86th annual Candy Dance returns this weekend to Genoa, Nevada's birthplace.

If this were the last day of summer anywhere else, today's temperatures would be warm and there would be a nice transition into fall. But because it's western Nevada, the high today will be in the 60s and low will be freezing. However on Saturday, the first day of fall, it will be warmer and will get steadily warmer until by Wednesday, the fourth day of fall, temperatures will be back up to the 80s.

Smoke from the Bassettes fire burning near Sierra City poured into Carson Valley when the wind changed on Thursday. A change in the wind's direction should send the smoke back over the hill.
