Roads leading into Genoa closed for Candy Dance

It's a chill 46 degrees in Genoa, but it's supposed to get much warmer today, with the National Weather Service predicting temperatures approaching 90.

Jacks Valley Road, Genoa Lane and Foothill Road close at 7 a.m. at Genoa for the annual Candy Dance.

A lot of folks will take Jacks Valley Road into town, despite the fact the big sign says to take Genoa Lane.

There is room for maybe 200 cars alongside the road and another 300 in the Genoa Cemetery Parking lot. That will fill up at about 9 a.m. and the highway will turn into a quagmire, with people trying to turn around, even though there are cars on either side.

If you want to save yourself $5 parking and don't want to walk much, take the shuttles from Douglas High or Carson Valley Inn for $2. Otherwise, the main parking is on Genoa Lane or Foothill Road.
