Scores of people turned out in 30-degree weather to watch the lighting of the Heritage Park Pavilion on Wednesday night.

Santa was there and the Carson Valley Middle School band played Christmas tunes to warm up the crowd.

The Carson Valley Community Theater Group performed "Santa's Little Helper, Part 2" as people gathered around fires.

A carriage ride carried people around the park during the festivities.

It's 10 degrees in Genoa and 14 degrees in Minden at 6:20 a.m. on the last day of November. The National Weather Service is forecasting partly cloudy skies with a high today of 38 degrees. By Friday, the highs will climb back up to a toasty 47. No precipitation is visible on the horizon, with the Weather Service predicting mostly sunny skies through next Thursday.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is working a 6:18 a.m. accident at I580 and Mill Street in Reno that apparently involves the state somehow. No injuries are reported, but motorists are warned there are possible delays.
