Today is the second day of a marathon Douglas County Planning Commission meeting to discuss requests for amendment to the master plan.

On Tuesday, planning commissioners delayed approving the 10-year update of the master plan. The update has come under scrutiny for increasing densities. Also, two portions considered critical to establishing growth controls, water and traffic studies, have not been completed.

Teens Against Tobacco will be sponsoring a training day 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Partnership of Community Resources offices in Gardnerville. The American Lung Association is buying lunch for the training. Information, 782-8611.

Tonight the Douglas County Public Library in Minden is hosting a children's book swap. Bring used books 4-7 p.m. to the Storytime Castle inside the Minden branch at 1625 Library Lane. The swap is celebrating Children's Book Week.

There's a pogonip in the air this morning. The temperature in Genoa is 28 degrees and there is a low fog down by the river.

It's supposed to stay dry today and Thursday with the next wet system coming in Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature is forecast to hit 58 degrees and tonight's low will dip just below freezing.
