Tonight Douglas County commissioners discuss and may take action on an ordinance establishing a building permit allocation and growth management as part of the Douglas County master plan. Commissioners have set aside two hours starting at 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall in Minden to hear a first reading of the ordinance in a joint meeting with the planning commission. Also under discussion tonight is a summary of the five-year capital improvement program, floodplain management and the 2006 transportation element update. In other words the whole shootin' match when it comes to growth. Part of the growth cap ordinance will be deciding what growth rate Douglas County should have and how to change it.
Commissioners will have their regular meeting starting at 1 p.m. in the historic Minden courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. They have an hour and a half set aside to discuss four requests from Soar Minden related to installation of a fuel tank and amending the firm's agreement with the county.
It looks like the storm is over for this weekend at least. Today there is a slight chance of snow showers under partly cloudy skies. The high temperature should get up to around 40 and there will be a 10 mph breeze. From there the temperatures will climb steadily until they are predicted to hit 58 on Sunday. At sunrise, the temperature is 18 degrees in Genoa and 21 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
All road controls have been lifted in Western Nevada and Highway 50 has reopened with snow tires or chains required. That's better than either 88 or 80 which are both requiring chains to get across.
