RC Morning Report

The wind is already blowing and the pressure is dropping this morning as a storm system blasts through Carson Valley.

At 50 degrees, we're pretty close to the predicted high of 66 degrees now. As the front cooks through, the temperatures are going to drop like a rock. The predicted low temperature for Minden tonight is 29 degrees. The low for Saturday night is 30.

The good news is that temperatures will be back out of the cellar by Sunday with the lows going to 34.

There's trouble in River City and "Music Man Jr." is coming to the rescue. The Douglas County Children's Theater will be performing 7 p.m. today and Saturday at the Dance Workshop Performing Arts Center on County Road in Minden. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students.

The Boot fire in Walker River Canyon near Sonora Junction was quickly contained. Caused by a lightning strike, the fire was less than an acre when firefighters snuffed it out.

Meanwhile, firefighters are expecting the weather front to drive the Ralston fire east and northeast from Forest Hill in Placer County. The Ralston fire has grown to 8,365 acres and a fire line is about two-thirds of the way around it. Firefighters are concerned that high winds accompanying the front will drive the fire through the lines.
