Puppy training offered at Fuji Park

Adorable little puppies sometimes need to be a little more obedient for their young masters. The 4 Paws 4-H Dog Club is sponsoring a seven-week Basic Obedience and Puppy Training course, 6:30 Ð 7:15 p.m., Thursday through March 23 at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall.

The program is for youth, ages 9 to 16, and their puppies, ages 4 months to 18 months. However, parents need to attend the first meeting this Thursday with their children and bring puppies' shot records. Puppies do not attend the first meeting. A $10 donation is requested to help cover the costs of the training and course materials.

Interested youth do not need to be a current member of a 4-H club. However, youth who complete the class can choose to continue and become a member of the 4 Paws 4-H Dog Club.

Enrollment is limited to 10 participants. To register, call University of Nevada Cooperative Extension in Carson City, 887-2252; or Sue Dunt, club leader, 687-3192 or 846-9297. The 4-H clubs are youth development and leadership programs of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
