Sign-ups due today for 4-H Youth Fair

Where can you see a dog show, some terrific home arts projects, and a horse training demonstration? The Carson City/Storey County 4-H Youth Fair, July 21Ð22, at the Carson City Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall at Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Road. Youth will be showing off a variety of projects that they have been working hard to complete at this annual family event. Admission for spectators is free. Enjoy the festivities 8Ð10 p.m. on July 21, and 8-9 p.m. on July 22.

Any youth can enter a number of project categories, including crafts; photography; sewing; foods and nutrition; posters; educational displays; speeches and demonstrations; flowers; and fruits, vegetables and other crops. In addition, 4-H invites all area children to dress up their pets and bring them out for one of the favorite events, "Pets and Projects on Parade," at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The entry fee for the parade and each item entered in the project categories is $1. Youth and adults who are not in 4-H may also participate in the equine desensitizing and trail courses workshops. The fee is $5 per animal and preregistration is not required.

In addition, 4-H youth will participate in a dog show, a rabbit show, a small animal show, a poultry show and a dairy show.
