Cooperative Extension offers 4-H Dog Fun Match



Cooperative Extension's 4-H Happy Heelers Dog Club invites everyone to join them at their annual 4-H All Breed Conformation & Obedience Fun Match, March 31, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 922 Dump Road, Gardnerville. Check-in is at 8 a.m., and the show begins at 9:30 a.m. The public is welcome to watch the dog competition, free of charge. And, participants do not need to be members of 4-H.


Classes will include conformation, puppy, adult, mixed breed, junior showmanship, adult showmanship and fun. Participants can register for these classes the day of the show, 8Ð9 a.m., for $6 per dog for the first class and $4 per dog for each additional class. Or, participants can register for $5 per dog for the first class and $3 per dog for each additional class if they preregister, postmarking their entries by March 17. Obedience will also be offered, and pre-entry is required for this class. In addition, there will be a costume contest that is always a crowd favorite, a best trick contest, and a raffle. All proceeds will benefit the Happy Heelers 4-H Dog Club. There will be an all-day snack bar and a pizza lunch.


Fun matches help youth learn responsibility and give them a chance to practice and perform what they have learned.
