Young at Heart Club events planned for senior citizens

The Young at Heart Club for Seniors at Douglas County Senior Center have planned some events for the next few weeks.

First is the seventh annual Senior Health Fair at the Carson Valley Inn's Shannon Ballroom from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

This is an opportunity for residents to meet healthcare and business professionals, pick up brochures and find out about health facilities in the vicinity. There will be a fashion show in the afternoon, modeled by seniors from the senior center. Esther Hildebrand, YAH vice president, has organized the show.

The next big event is the Superbowl party, potluck and social on Feb. 5. Doors open at 11 a.m. Attendees are asked to bring a dish for eight, and stay and watch the Superbowl game on a wide-screen TV. Kick-off time is 3:35 p.m.

There will be a 50/50 raffle with football memorabilia to be raffled that afternoon. Since seats are limited, plan to be there early.
