Staff Reports

The annual membership drive for the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club is at the Douglas County Senior Center. Membership is open to anyone age 55 or older and annual dues are $3. Funds raised by Young At Heart are used for projects including holiday gift bags, repairs and upkeep at the senior center, fundraising for a new center, and community events.

Sign up 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday in the Young at Heart gift shop at the senior center or by contacting Annie Smutnak on Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings at the senior center. Smutnak has the goal to sign up 500 new and returning members.

Sign-ups are also available at the 11th annual Senior Health Fair, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Carson Valley Inn's Shannon Ballroom. The free event is an opportunity to find out about local services and health care providers. Lab work is offered in conjunction with Carson Valley Medical for a small fee payable the day of the fair.

The senior center is at 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Information, 783-6455.
