The Share Your Holiday Food Drive has been going on at the Carson Valley Inn RV Resort for the past hour, but don't worry, it will continue to go until 6 p.m. today.

Drop by donations of non-perishable food at the event co-sponsored throughout the Western Nevada by KTVN Channel 2. Carson Valley always manages to do gather a lot of food and cash for this event. The Carson Valley Inn is located on Highway 395 in Minden.

Christmas parties and concerts are the rule this weekend. The highlights include the Carson Valley Pops Christmas concert 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Gall Pastoral Center and Genoa's Christmas in the Sierra featuring David John and the Comstock Cowboys in the Genoa Town Hall with shows at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

It's a warm, wet and windy morning. At least one squall passed over the Valley earlier this morning and the radar shows a big blot of light rain heading right for Western Nevada. A high wind warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. today. With the temperature near 50 in the wee hours of the morn, anticipate things will get much cooler by this afternoon. Pack a coat. The National Weather Service is predicting rain and then snow today. The chance of precipitation is at 40 percent for today and 50 percent on Saturday in the form of snow showers. There's a possibility of accumulations of an inch, but don't get your hopes up. Things are going to be much colder after this weekend, with the highs dropping from around 70 on Thursday to the 30s on Sunday and lows in the pre-teens and teens.

The Meneley Elementary School wind gauge is registering about 15-20 mph out of the out of the southwest.
