The Douglas County Public Library is inviting everyone to participate in the 2025 Summer Reading Program.
“Level Up at Your Library” is this year’s theme with reading and activity challenges for all ages and reading levels.
Come celebrate the start of Summer Reading at one of the kick-off events at the Minden Park and Zephyr Cove Library.
To find out more information about the summer happenings at the library, register for the Summer Reading Program, meet the Douglas County Mounted Posse (Minden Park only) and more. There will be special Summer Reading bags for the kick-off events, while supplies last.
The kickoff in Minden will be 10 a.m. – noon May 31 at Minden Park. The Minden Library will be closed during this time, and will re-open at 1 p.m.
Kick-off in Zephyr Cove will be held at the Zephyr Cove Library 2:30-4:30 p.m. June 3.
A special performance by Tintabulations Handbells Ensemble is 2 p.m. June 7 at the Minden Branch.
This year’s program, Bein’ Green, is inspired by the beloved song performed by Kermit the Frog and explores themes of self-acceptance, growth and the beauty of embracing one’s uniqueness. For more information about Tintabulations, visit their website at www.tintabulations.com.
This year’s Summer Reading program is May 31 through July 31. If you are unable to attend a kick-off event to register in person, you may register online on the library’s Beanstack webpage at douglascountynv.beanstack.org to log reading and earn prizes on your Beanstack account.
All of these events are free. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored and made possible in part by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records, and Kiwanis of Lake Tahoe.
The Minden Library is located at 1625 Library Lane. The Zephyr Cove Library is located at 233 Warrior Way. Parking is available in the upper and lower parking lots. Connect with the Douglas County Public Library on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, library.douglascountynv.gov or call 775-782-9841.
