The driver of a transit van involved in a head-on collision with a semi truck was transported with life-threatening injuries on Friday morning.
A motorist called The R-C to say he saw a cattle truck jackknifed on the highway. A resident reported the transit van that was involved appeared to be a plumber.
Nevada State Police Sgt. Chris Brown confirmed that the driver of the van was transported to the hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the van crossed into the path of the semi, he said.
He said he expects that the highway will be closed for several hours as a result of the collision, though there's a possibility one lane will open at some point.
Initial reports from the scene that the driver was deceased were incorrect.
