Genoa, Nev. — Another big outage hit around 9:20 a.m. Sunday affecting 11,595 NV Energy customers in Carson Valley at its height. Including homes and businesses, that amounts to about half the power company customers in Douglas County.

A squall down Fredericksburg way left 25 lightning strikes and .3 inches of rain, according to resident Jeff Garvin. While some spots got rain, others were dry as a bone.

The Inliners said there were around 80 entries at the Rappin’ to Minden car show around Minden Park on Saturday. Between the Fishing Derby at Lampe Park and the car show it was a busy day.

R-C Staffer Sarah Drinkwine went to the Fishing Derby on Sunday, so I expect we’ll see a report from her for Wednesday’s edition. It’s going to be a very busy week.

I went to the 4-H Herpetology Club presentation on Saturday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. The reptile exhibit is always a popular Family Day activity, and the main gallery was packed with children, both presenting and watching.

There’s a slight chance of more thunderstorms starting around 2 p.m. today as the temperature climbs toward the forecast high of 93 degrees. The wind will be calm unless a storm pops up, and then it will get to be breezy.
