Genoa, Nev. — A decade of experience on the Minden Town Board was recognized by Douglas County commissioners on Thursday when they appointed town native Matt Bernard to finish out Susan Jackson’s term.


The second to the last piece of the Clear Creek project sailed through an approval 5-0 on Thursday. The county has started emailing updates on commission action. Visit www.douglascountynv.gov and scroll down to sign up.


The Douglas County Public Library Book sale starts at noon for members of Friends of the Library and at 3 p.m. for everyone else at the Minden Branch. It continues 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.


The 11th Holy Smokers Car Show is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday across Douglas Avenue from Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville. Just three blocks away, Art & Wine on the Green is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.


 Spring’s here and so are the plant sales. Both the Riverfork Ranch and Heritage Park Gardens are hosting plant sales, with the Genoa sale focusing on native plants.


The R-C office in Minden is closed due to mechanical issues. We’re still going to be out and about, including for the Hot Air for Hope Media Day at O-Dark-Thirty this morning. That event will be continuing through the weekend. Visit hotairforhope.com for more info.

Today’s weather is pretty much a carbon copy of Thursday’s with the high temperature expected to hit 83 degrees under sunny skies with the Zephyr at 5-10 mph this afternoon. Things begin to start cooling off on Sunday, maybe.
