Genoa, Nev. — A fire in an outbuilding at the top of Stephanie Way could be seen from Highway 395 around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. East Fork firefighters on scene called loss stop at 7:11 p.m.


There are chain controls in the mountains this morning, including Kingsbury Grade and Spooner Summit. The traffic camera shows some snow on the highway up at Daggett Summit.


High profile vehicles are prohibited through Washoe Valley and on Highway 395 south to almost Bridgeport due to high winds.


The county is working on the transfer of development rights program and transportation plans this year in preparation for a master plan update in 2025.


A site improvement plan for Muller Lane Parkway outside of the flood plain is in the pipeline and should be out in the next month or so, according to Community Development Director Tom Dallaire.


Today it’s the turn of the recorder, public works and emergency management. The hearings open at 10 a.m. and have been wrapping up around 3 p.m. with around an hour set aside for lunch.


Evie the Easter Bunny will be at Toddler Time 9-11 a.m. at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. The cost is $3 for children 9 months to 5 years old. The Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club will be hosting their annual egg hunt in Lampe Park 11 a.m. Sunday.


Gaming numbers came out this morning, with Stateline up 12.93 percent to $21.35 million in February, which includes the Super Bowl. The Lake casinos shrunk the deficit for the fiscal year down to 2.41 percent.


It’s definitely been windy, with 49 mph gusts recorded in Alpine View and Sheridan on Wednesday afternoon. Sheridan had a 48 mph wind gust at 6:20 a.m. today, so it’s still blowing.


Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin and I both recorded .3 inches of rain along the foothills. Heavenly Valley’s snow telemetry showed about 3 more inches of snow to bring the snow depth to 5 feet on the nose.


It’s well above freezing this morning, but the clouds are clearing out which jibes with the forecast for sunny skies and a high temperature of 48 degrees. The south wind’s expected to continue at 10-15 mph, gusting to 30 mph at times.
