Genoa, Nev. — Updated with more recent information:

Around 700 Carson Valley homes and businesses were without power for the better part of two hours 1:30 p.m. Sunday after a major power line separated near East Valley and Buckeye roads. It was 10:30 p.m. before everyone was back online.

A tire blowout is being blamed for a rollover on Foothill Road between Walley’s Hot Springs and Genoa that saw a vehicle end up on its side on the trail. The driver was transported via East Fork ambulance and a blue heeler who escaped from the vehicle was located.

Fortunately, there weren’t any walkers in the way on the trail, since there was a light blizzard occurring at the same time. It was a fairly damp weekend for spring’s first winter storm.

Four people were transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center via ambulance after a collision at around 11:40 a.m. Sunday after a two-vehicle T-bone collision at Highway 395 and Stephanie Way. Sounds like someone missed the light.

There was a full house for the Women’s Remembering Project at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center on Saturday. Earlier that day the Bee Conference had 80 folks signed up, with some coming from Clark County.

It was a busy Saturday in Carson Valley with both the Gardening Forum at the Main Street building in Gardnerville and Kiwanis Ham Bingo having good turnouts.

My rain gauge is frozen solid this morning, so be careful making your way around this morning until the sun melta the ice. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 52 degrees. The wind is expected to pick up out of the west at 10-15 mph this afternoon.
