Man admits having drugs and concealed weapon

A 32-year-old man admitted to possession of a concealed weapon and methamphetamine Monday, which combined carries a sentence of up to nine years.

According to court documents, Michael Buck Bittman was arrested Dec. 2, 2023, with a Taurus 9 mm pistol.

Sentencing is set for April 22.

• A man who bought a 1994 Ford F-250 and failed to make payments on the vehicle faces 1-5 years in prison for embezzlement.

According to court documents, Phillip Sidney Scheleu, 62, bought the truck in October 2019 and failed to make payments for three months, keeping the truck.

He was release on his own recognizance and owes $2,979 in restitution, $1,000 of which is expected to go directly to the victim. Sentencing and a status hearing is set for Jan. 6, 2025.

• A woman, who was loaned a 2002 Audi A4 to escape the Caldor Fire on Aug. 30, 2021, never returned the vehicle to its owner. 

Christina Michelle Taute, 36, faces up to 364 days in jail and a fine of $2,000 for the unlawful taking of the vehicle.

Sentencing is set for March 25.

• A man who aimed a firearm at another was sentenced to three days in jail Monday.

Garrett Troy Reichman, 31, was arrested Oct. 3, 2020, after tailgating a vehicle, yelling profanity at the driver and brandishing a firearm.

Reichman was sentenced to Douglas County jail and was given credit for three days.
