A man who failed to remain at the scene of an accident that caused substantial bodily harm of a minor was sentenced to 2-10 years in prison Monday.

Brian Michael Volmer, 61, hit a pedestrian while driving at the intersection of Kings Lane and Highway 395 on Oct. 16, 2022.

According to Volmer, he stopped to make sure the 15-year-old was OK, before leaving the scene and failing to provide information or rendering assistance to the victim before the paramedics could arrive.

Volmer stated he had social anxiety and the amount of people who showed up were taking pictures and video, so he panicked and left.

“Despite any social anxiety, he had an obligation to make sure she was OK and to provide information to authorities,” said prosecutor Chelsea Mazza.
