Genoa Americana Celebration set for Fourth of July

The Genoa Americana Celebration returns to Mormon Station State Historic Park on July 4 with live music, a children’s and pet parade and old-fashioned games. All events are free.

Attendees are encouraged to bring festival chairs or picnic blankets for sitting on the grass at the park. No set-up before 8 a.m., please.

The children’s and pet parade along Main Street begins at 10:30 a.m. Participants are asked to gather at Genoa Park on Nixon Street at 10 a.m. While bicycles and wagons are welcome in the parade, motorized vehicles are not.        

At 11 a.m., the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department will begin serving their Chicken BBQ dinners.

Musical offerings begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Front Porch Band, followed by Moxy Ruckus at 1:15 p.m.

The Carson City Symphony conducted by David Bugli will begin performing at 3:45 p.m., joined by the Symphony Youth Chorus conducted by Nancy Jones and Guest Soloist Cherie Shipley.

The program concludes at 5:15 p.m.
